Each day we awaken God tenders grace over our existence. His merciful blessing allowing us to once again interact with the world. It is his hope that we gift positivity in our travels through positive engagements. Can you recall the last time you gifted a kind word, shared a smile, hugged someone or simply said I support your endeavors? Well, its never too late? Start today by Saying Yes to Positivity.
Most people when they hear the word metamorphosis they immediately define the term with one of earth’s simpler life sources. They expound the definition by referencing a stage of transformation where Caterpillar larva evolves from their cocooned state of existence and the birth of mature life unfolds into a beautiful butterfly. That’s metamorphism. The transformation stage in life where the origin of life in both anatomical and conscious levels of awareness empower and actualize all forms of life. When we apply this single concept of metamorphoses to human nature, B. F. Skinner theorized that all organism develop through a process of positive or negative reinforcement as we encounter life’s experiences. Those experiences are stimuli or shall we say learning catalysts on the road to actualization. Stimuli provide the underlying theory to all learning, adaptation, and transformation. It is through this acquisition of knowledge that we morph our unique abilities and personas into instrumental individuals of conscience.
Every day I encounter individuals en-wrapping or cocooning themselves. Searching for the righteousness of their hearts, while some look to rewrite their sullied pasts. We all have shortcomings and fall short of perfection its a truism that exist in every individual. Each day that life provides extension we have the power to reinvent ourselves; to strive for balance and harmony in our lives. To correct the flaws of our being, while embracing the courage to strengthen our lives for a greater utility. That utility is your life’s purpose. When we understand that life is better in its simpler form we gain worldly perceptions free from disillusionment’s of people, places, or things. It is from this lucidity of learning that active catalyst are reinforced into our psyche. These behavioral patterns influence and stimulate our self-concepts, self-identities, and our paths to self- actualization.
When we self-nurture, we are metamorphosed into confident, aspiring, successful individuals. When we self-neglect, we will eventually self-destruct. The power of self-introspection shadows our thoughts and perceptions. The shadow of our existence lingers over all our practices. It’s there when we are meditating, jogging, working, educating, painting or belly dancing. When the light of your metamorphoses begins to illuminate within encourage it, nurture it, and protect it. Protect whatever vice you choose to support enlightenment. Life is about learning, growing, evolving. Learn to be present in your lives; to be fully aware when the catalyst of your conscience turns the key in your soul and begins the transformation of your life. Remember, to always live, breathe, and speak in authentic truth, it will aid in your quest to defining you.
The non-indictment of Officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri has created a national call to conscience that is echoing across multiple cites in our nations. As citizens are taking to the streets in support of Michael Browns family the systematic assaults and murdering of African Americans must stop. On the night of the announcement it was reported 12 plus buildings were torched, businesses were looted, protesters were tear gassed, and 80 arrests were conducted because of America’s caste legal system that operates within the implicit boundaries of separatism and the oppression of minority’s. These reactions were explosive due to the constant abuses of peace officers in this nation. As I watch and observe the divisive argument that is fueled by prejudicial stereotypes and racial disharmony it saddens me. With sadness comes pain and through pain I hope will come truth. Dr. King postulated in his revered I Have a Dream Sermon, “Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God’s children. We can never be satisfied as long as the African American is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality” (August, 1963). Nonviolence is the only way to approach bigotry, prejudice, separatism, and ignorance. Hear me when I say racial sensitivity is not the collective proposition of your lawmakers however its your duty to dismantle the disparaging perceptions of others. Don’t be fooled by the media attention to the plight unless the world takes action and underpins new legislation the Michael Brown Bill ( personal video cams on peace officers) will you begin to see a change. You wanna know why, because , when the eyes of the world are upon you the pendulum will always swing in your favor. The need for prosecuting officials to disguise their tracks through manipulated grand juries will no longer be a feature to hide their murderous acts and there pursuits to dehumanizing people of color.
