As I greeted today with open arms and heart I was reminded of what a blessing it is to have life and worship the life I was given. On a early morning task I was sitting in the comfort of my physician office and came across an article written in January’s issue of Essence Magazine. Inside the issue Iyanla Vanzant spoke to all women offering her inspirational guide to finding joy and happiness so ladies I’ve taken the liberty to include the guidelines for you and offer my own beliefs, so here goes:
Organize your life( order the first law of the heavens to survival on Earth)
Testify( Be as Transparent as possible, I internalized this to mean show people who you are from the onset and then you will see who sticks around and values your space and opinion.)
Finding your Purpose (In short she says Pray over your desires and the path in which you must travel, surrender yourself to the creative forces of God)
Set Boundaries (boundaries are guidelines that should put all your relationships into proper context, ask questions of the people you interact with or that you entertain, there is nothing wrong with laying down your laws and following them with appropriate expectations. Ladies stay grounded and clear of your desires there is no room for ambiguity!
Strengthen your Ties( Iyanla states relationships come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime, for whatever reason they are received into our lives it’s to foster growth.) I’ve heard this quote several ways over the years and my favorite way of analyzing this is Ladies look at a tree take in account the roots, branches and the leaves, when the winter sets upon that same tree some would suggest as it goes bare for the winter it’s symbolic of relationships; it loses it leaves, some branches split off some die. The same holds true in your relationships we want a relationship that is strong as the roots. The relevance as the roots dig deeper underground for protection and nourishment it’s life source; You should expect the same. You want a relationship that’s grounded and breathing life, Stay away from the leaves that catch flight in a breeze and the branches that don’t survive from the weight of water, ice or wind. Just a thought Ladies, Stay Rooted.
Prepare for Love, Iyanla says in short clean up your BAGGAGE!, make time and space, be clear about your expectations, be authentic and share all of your goodness.
Know that It’s ok to say No, (don’t let anyone or anything rush you into a relationship that is not for you) no more settling for whatever reason, age , money, sex, family.
